I think you have an interest in speed rackers?
Have you heard of a horse called EZD's Falcon Rowdy? or a guy with one arm named Johnny Demetris?

I know the question wasn't directed at me but I love the speed horses. All of those EZD horses are actually Single Footing horses and they can flat out
fly. I'm not sure if Rowdy is the one that is still alive or not but I know lot's of people who advertise their single footing horses tout having his
bloodline. You can go to www.youtube.com and see videos of them.

That's ok, yes we saw the video of the little rowdy horse being ridden bareback by a one armed guy and man could he fly!

A couple of days ago we were expermenting with our 3 yr old ttp gelding, Alan has always loved a good speed racker, so he sped Buck up, kept asking him for
more speed. Buck didn't know what to think since most times we are working on keeping him relaxed and pretty slow. At first he trotted a little then he
tried to lope and a little pace but in the end he was carrying a pretty steady rack, pretty fast too. Alan had a grin from ear to ear! Poor Buck he was so
tired, we've never worked him like that before. lol

Dixie,
A Rack, and a Single-Foot is the same gait. A TRUE Racking horse IS a Single-Footer, because a SINGLE FOOT is on the ground at any given point in time, when at a rack. I know it's kind of confusing. |

But isn't there a whole breed called The North American Single-Footer or something like that? I am not confused by a single foot and/or rack. I just know
when I go to an RHBAA show and see what they call a rack is not the same thing that one of these single-footers does or what an ASB does when it's racking.

My padded racking horse got beat by a stanard bred. I saw no pads but it was a padded class. We got second. I was pi$$ed. My mare was racking never missed a
beat. She was breaking higher and was sound. My daughter was ridding, maybe she should have wore a tank top too.

I forgot to post this earleir, but we have been going through some trying times with NRHA. ( Y'all think the SSHBEA BOD is bad because they don't want
their members to post on Flint Creek? They aren't sh&% compared to the yahoos at NRHA!)
Anyway, at a National Racking show in Celevland weee before last, I got a chance to talk with Donald Reece, the owner of the SSH Jake, a multi- WGC speed racker, about the "Race of Champions" thing we had been trying to get up. Donald's 75th birthday was that day! He had elected to celebrate it by brining Jake out and smokin the other entries! I sure hope I can
even ride a horse at 75!
I told Mr Reece about rhe proposed "Race of Champions" and his eyes lit up when I told him it would be videod and judged for a rack instead of a pace. But, he told me if it was 10 years ago ( when he was a mere lad of 65 ? ) he might be interested, but that he and Jake were both getting a little late
in years. He said Jake wasn't in shape, and that he would have to ride him a lot, of course, to get him in shape, so he guesed he'd jsut pass on this
race.
But, I was telling him about the race would have been with the RHBAA and the United and the SSHBEA speed champions, and I was telling him a little bit about SSHBEA, and about Gaitway and Amy. He said he would like to take Jake to Shelbyville this fall! Jake is registered TWHBEA and is 13 years old, so I assume he can get his SSHBEA papers?

John,
I think you should be complimented, that is what we have all been flapping our gums about: actually doing something to help, in a positive way, instead of in a negative way. I saw Mr. Reece & Jake last year at a NRHA show, and they were really good. John, I have always agreed with you about trainers should not be judges, and trainers/judges shouldn't be DQP's. I also have also agreed with you about ALL associations should have Judges that actually judge for the CORRECT gait & knee level/way of going. I, personally, think that a Speed Racker should RACK, not trot, pace, or run at any time, period. I believe that if a horse is in the speed racking class, and it performs a gait OTHER than a rack, it should be excused, or at the very least, it should not be tied. |

be exciting to see him and last year's champ in the ring? Now, soemone needs to tell the SSHBEA judges, ( If they have not been to a lot of racking shows
with speed classes) that you work the horses both ways, bring them into the lineup, walk around and look them over until you see they have their breath back,
then call for a workout with the favorite two!
Speed racking is always fun to watch, but the speedsters being spotted jsut makes it that much more exciting, don't you agree? John |

Speed racking is great as long as they are racking. I've seen alot of horses that start out racking but end up road gaiting pacing or something. A true speed racking horse is a awesome horse to watch!!!!!! If I want to see them run I'll go watch some barrell racing. |

It was our state racking (RHBAA) horse championship, and also had quiet a few walking classes mixed in... The GOVT showed up, but they still had a show.. A few classes got skipped, which made it harder on us... we took 5, and showed all 5... had our classes spread out pretty good, but then they started skipping classes, and we had to work pretty hard to keep ours ready and in the ring.
