Do you live near Lake Lure area? And if you do, do you recommend a bed and breakfast or nice place to stay for a weekend. My anniversary is coming up and we want to go somewhere, but not to far, with gas prices the way they are. We have been to Chimmany Rock and seen Lake lure, but it was off season in Oct. and most everything was closed down. I've been on the internet looking, but thought you might know somewhere good. Don't know how far they book out. Or if you want to come back toward Asheville, there is always the Grove Park Inn (5-star resort) or Inn on Biltmore Estate. Don't know how much you want to spend per night but these are definitely in the upper tier. I would say between $135 and $300 per night.this time of year. I have always wanted to try the Whitegate Inn & Cottages in Asheville. Alot of the hotels offer discount packages that include tickets to Biltmore Estate too. Try the Hickory Nut Gorge Chamber of Commerce (Bat Cave, Lake Lure,Chimney Rock) toll free 877-625-2725. They might be able to offer suggestions.

My family went there every summer when I was growing up.. But my husband loves the mountains and lakes, so I guess the beach at Lake Lure will be the only one I get to go to this year....Be careful in the ocean!

We got out just in time. The rest of this week is supposed to be close to 100 degrees. We were on the 19th floor oceanfront--it was heavenly. Best purchase made was 2 chairs that we sat on the edge of the ocean and sat all day long with our feet in the water. Talk about relaxing.......

We have reservations at the 1927 Lake Lure Lodge and Spa for a few days the week of the19th of June. Hopefully the weather will be great!
