Reckon how many there are? Does anyone know if SSHBEA or some other source, could put together this info, along with owner's names and addresses? I had
thought , over the weekend, of making this show I wanted to do, a futurity, a 4 yr old futurity. We'd get stallion owners to donate a breeding at an
auction, and only foals of those breedings bought at this auction would be eligible. The futurity prize money would be the amount raised from the stallion
auction. There would need to be 150-200 particiapting stallions to make it worth while. I wonder if there are that many?

This is to answer the emails I have gotten asking about this. Dunno why they won't ask on here, but I respect that.
I will post my answers though, as it might answer some more folks's questions. Futurity means the first time a horse is shown. This is a 4 yr old futurity, so the horse would be 4 and had never been shown. If someone bred to an eligible stallion now, the foal would be born in 09. It would be considered a 4 yr old on Jan 1st 2013. You'd have the futurity as close to the first of the year as you could.. January or Febuary of 2013 for the first one. No, this would not be for other gaited horses, too. The horses would do Advanced Trail Pleasure, Halter, Trail Obstacle, one of the SSHOW paterns, reining, hunter over fences, "shotgunning", working cow horse, Cowboy Mounted Shooting, barrels , and pole bending. The prize money is the sum of the donated stud fees' auction prices. No, this will probably never happen with SSHBEA, due to lack of intertest. Only one stallion owner so far has expresssed an interest. No, no one has told me of a way to find names and contact info of all current owners of SSHBEA stallions. One person has said there is no such info compiled. I do not know why people are reluctant to let anyone know they are interested! This is nothing new or radical.. It is much like any Sport Horse event we already have. just adding something many SSHs do anyhow.. CMS. And, in
addition to the CMS and Sport Horse events, the horses would just be entering SSHBEA halter and SSHBEA Advanced TP.
Question for the forum members: IF stallion owners caught on, and did donate breedings, how much would they avearge bringing at auction? Yes, I know it depends on the horse, but say, a stud fee advertised at $500... how much would it go for? Thanks, John Edited to add: No, not all off spring of a stallion who has donated a stud fee is eligible to compete in the futurity. If one stud fee is doanted, then that stallion will have one progeny in the futurity that year. If you own a stallion and some mares, for one of your own foals to be eligible, you'd have to donate a stud fee and buy it at the auction yourself. Eventually, after the first year or two, eligible foals that have a pedigree conducive to winning the Futurity, will bring a lot of money as weanlings, yearlings,2 yr olds, etc. Might even get to where they'd sell in-utero.

John, surely the SSHBEA office has a stallion data base, that they could provide you this list of stallion owners and their contact information? Do breeders
of SSHBEA stallions not have to file a stallion breeding report each year? I assume this would have the information for all the stallions that bred mares in
2007, at least?
Who are you suggesting will manage this program and who will put the futurity on? You, or SSHBEA, or some other entity? Betty

Betty,
SSHBEA does not require a stallion report to be turned in. I guess this is because one side of the books is open and foals by non-SSHBEA stallions can be registered. Amanda |

Program, or PR Committe program, but it really needs to be a SSHBEA program.

BSTC's..... *snort* Now THAT'S funny........I read alot of those posts/forums just to giggle at them although, in the end, I usually get ticked off at the bashing ALL of us from this area get just because they assume guilt by association.........then it's no longer funny or a giggling matter. We don't stand either of our stallions to the public, however, if you can get this pulled off, we will throw our hats in the ring (I am sure we will buy back our own fees and that would be fine). So, there, you have it, publically announced, two stallions. |

Take the SSHBEA name out of it- make it for "Spotted Saddle Horse stallions" for those of us that won't associate ourselves with SSHBEA until the
tobiano rule is overturned...and we'll add our three SSH stallions......

have SSHBEA SSHs, want gaits defined.. and the BL, squat-and-crawl look to go away,.. yet they are against the tobiano rule as well. So how
did this currrent slate of yahoos get elected!!?? |

Because most of the general membership doesn't take the time to vote or sometimes even realize that they actually have a ballot or get a ballot or just
vote for those (if they don't know anyone) names they have seen in the magazine. We have a few friends that call every year and ask our opinion on who they
should vote for. I am sure there are others out there who do the same with their friends. Just my two cent opinion on how all of that happens........ I'm
sure there is a large portion of the ballots that end up in the trash..........

Jwarren04 wrote: I'm not sure that would work for well with SSHBEA, I think you would end up with things being even more mid-Tenn-centric than it is now. At least with
the mail-in ballots you have a chance to research the candidates before voting, and those that live too far away to go to a meeting get the opportunity
(whether to take it or not) to vote and influence the direction of the organization.
