USDA at local saddle club show

Glad to have the rain but the ring looked like a lake. We went on in & had lunch (good HOME cooking!) & then left. Just got a phone call that the USDA pulled in right after we left - 8 inspectors with police escort. Not sure of all the details but I was told two were hit for the scar rule & one for toe too short. They did some swabbing & not sure what all else. The crowd was very small because of the weather & most just did "walk in walk out" to qualify for our state show.

What state was this in? Who will be responsible if USDA fines anyone? I always heard the liability falls back on the BOD if the show is not sanctioned thru an HIO.. I was at a show tonight and heard they had been showing up at some other small saddle clubs show this year as well.

I should be able to find out this week. My phone has been ringing off the hook all day from barrel racers to folks in another state wanting to tell me if "what they heard" was true. One told me that the assoc. president asked the officials who asked them to come & was told a name. I find that very hard to believe - I dont think they would give a name, would they? This was in Alexandria, Alabama.
