Hey----Is there anybody on this list that has Mountain horses???? I have a padded TWH, & am soon getting a weanling Mt-horse (sire is double registered Rocky & KY----Dam is KY), that I hope to eventually show in the Country Pleasure Class-----and maybe some of the Mt-horse shows as well.......
I need more info on these Mt-horses, as compared to other gaited Breeds........ |

I have a 3yr old chocolate filly that I just love! I rode her last week at the Eastfork ride and she was a perfect trail horse, very sure footed and safe. I plan to breed her in the spring.
Bobby & Wendell McNatt have a beautiful Rocky Mtn stallion near Fayetteville and they know a lot about the Mountain breeds. |

We've owned Rocky Mtn/KY Mtn horses since 2001. They're fun to work with, and we always have a blast with them. I'm happy that the Mtn. horse folks
still try to do lots of things with their breed more naturally... It's easy to get a nice gait out of the horses--I start all of mine in a bosal, and only
use a small shanked bit if I'm showing. My 4 yr. old horses are all doing great in snaffle bits...just takes a bit more time to get them supple.

I bred my chocolate Rocky Mtn mare to McNatt's stallion, Fairwinds Destiny, and have a beautiful chocolate filly. I also bought a palomino Rocky Mtn mare
that I bred to him & have a chocolate filly out of her. I re-bred the palomino mare but haven't bred the chocolate mare back yet since she's my
personal riding mare. I may breed her in the fall after riding season is over. (I'm not a winter person & don't ride much in cold weather!) I love
the Rocky horses, and may keep both fillies for future breeding mares!
